Wow! It's already January 26th! The first month of the new year almost gone! This month is just flying by! Sorry for the delay in posting, but you know how that goes... this blog is a little different than my Confessions of a Fit Girl one, I only write in Mind & Soul when I feel inspired to do so and I guess I just haven't been moved to write a post lately. Don't get me wrong, I feel great and I'm still trying my best to be an inspiration for others. Actually, I've been spending most of my time committing myself to the Succeed At Fitness Facebook page. If you haven't checked it out yet, please do, I post on that page daily and I think if you are reading this you will definitely enjoy it. But I didn't come here to make a page endorsement, I actually came here to talk about the new year and what it means to me and should mean to you. I'm taking this new year as an opportunity to achieve long-wanted goals and be a better me than I was last year. For instance, one of my life goals is to try a vegetarian lifestyle for a year, in other words, no meat of any kind for one year. So far, so good. I haven't had any meat since I think around December 27th. I'm taking it month by month, and in five days month 1 will be done. It's funny, I always thought this goal would be hard but so far it's been totally doable. I'm sure I'll have challenges in the upcoming months, but I have no doubt that I can do it! I can do anything I set my mind to and so can you! Another goal I made for this year is to really devote myself to reading the Bible more. So starting January 1st, I got back into listening to the Daily Audio Bible ("D.A.B."). If you have that same goal you should really check D.A.B. it out! It's a free podcast through iTunes that helps you go through the entire Bible in a year. We just finished up the book of Genesis today! And don't worry, if you decide to join today, tomorrow, or next month you're never too late! The important thing is to just get started! I actually used to listen to this podcast a couple of years ago but for whatever reason, stopped, and never really got through the entire Bible, this time I'M GOING TO MAKE IT THROUGH! I've got a made up mind and new purpose! Determination is key! And finally, my goal every year is to continue to live a healthy through proper nutrition and exercise. I try to push it further each year, i.e - the vegetarianism and always trying new fitness programs. My saying is, physically as well as spiritually, I AM A WORK IN PROGRESS. And that's a good thing! No one is perfect so I'm not necessarily searching for "perfection", but I know that as long as I'm living on this earth, I can be better than what I am at any given moment. I can always be healthier, kinder, more compassionate, more grateful, more giving... the list goes on & on. I say all that to say, MAKE THIS NEW YEAR A NEW CHANCE TO BE A BETTER YOU! So I know some of you may be asking yourselves, "what if I fail?" So what! Life is full of failures! We all fail from time to time! As the old saying goes, "if at first you don't succeed, try, try, and try again". So don't worry, YOU WILL SUCCEED!
I hope this post encouraged someone today. Don't put off tomorrow what you can do today, make this new year a new chance!
Be encouraged!
